Tail Twinning

July 9, 2005

I sure wish I had photos of the time Bailey's tail grew out forked - it was truly a strange sight to see.

Xander's tail isn't doing quite what Bailey's tail did, but I find it interesting that you can see the body's attempt to twin the tail. The tail is growing back twice.

The image above is a close up of Xander's tail. The top part of the image is untouched, and the bottom part of the image is outlined where the conjoined twinning is taking place.

While the image above is slightly truncated, the phenomenon continues all the way to the very tip of the tail. It is too soon to tell what the outcome of this oddity will be, but I will continue to chronical the event on this page.
